Impeccably presented both musically and visually, 78rpm takes you back to that glittering, escapist period between the two world wars when romance was king. Light, frothy vocals, lilting saxophone and stylish piano set the tone. It’s all elegantly underpinned by a toe-tapping rhythm section comprising guitar, double-bass and drums. The band supplies a high-quality PA producing an excellent sound in venues of all sizes.
The line-up is extremely flexible. For informal, intimate entertainment at a small drinks party, a piano/vocal duo may well fit the bill. If dancing is required, add in a drumkit. All ages were captivated, and they read the mood of the guests with great song choices – I’m sure chosen on the fly – that got everyone smiling, dancing or just basking in the ambience. The broad grins on the dance floor said it all. Their delivery and musicianship was faultless and it was a privilege to be there and experience the atmosphere they created. Subsequent comments from guests have borne this out – everyone was carried along on the musical wave of nostalgic happiness. Not only that but they were such nice guys!
